You hit a weak spot on me too! This is something I struggle with, but have a simple saying that I try to follow: "Treat yourself, don't Cheat yourself!"

That being said, I find that even in moderation if I am treating myself 4 times a week... I need to break an addiction... I will then cut dessert out for about a month, until I can get the cravings under control. I can do this because I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I know I'm not trying to cut dessert out forever.

I think yogurt and fruit helps me keep the cravings at bay on the dessert front. I think once or twice a month having a really naughty dessert is realistic and not going to blow the diet!

Treat yourself, don't Cheat yourself!

Ha, I like your little saying Y's Guy:
Quote:
Treat yourself, don't Cheat yourself!
It made me smile! :)

That's definitely the way to do it though. Life is meant to be enjoyed and I don't think it can fully be enjoyed without a treat to look forward to every now and then! The key phrase is "every now and then" though... not every day! ;)

I'm trying your suggestion!

Day one... no dessert... I'm a little grumpy! I want a cookie real bad... maybe I'll go eat a banana or something...

This is very hard for me as well. We have a bowl of candy for my staff in the office and it is hard for me to walk by it all day. I have let it run empty a few times but then the staff keep checking and wondering if I am mad at them.

You know what I've discovered... Oats and Caramel Fiber One Chewy Bars... they are healthy but taste oh so much like a naughty dessert! Plus it has 35% of your daily fiber!!! It definately helps my willpower throughout the day. The other day was my boss's birthday and I didn't have to eat any of the cake... and I even had to buy it!!!

Try them... they are G-O-O-D !

I have a problem with this too. I wake up in the morning craving something sweet. I have always wondered if maybe my blood sugar gets too low in the night or something. If I have any candy or cake around the house I will eat it first thing in the morning and then I will feel sick for hours. What can I do? And I continue to eat candy at my desk all day as well. My coworkers tease me about it ....lol. :P

There is nothing wrong with eating something sweet in the morning... In fact, I try and mix in something sweet every morning! Fruit is a great thing to eat due to the natural sugar... especially raisins and apples. Another thing you guys can try during the day is dried fruit. Not only will you get a healthy treat during the day; it's chewy and will last longer and satisfy more!

Remember, if you are going to have something unhealthy (which we all do sometimes...) the earlier the better to allow your metabolism more time to burn it off before it shuts down for bed.

Dried pineapple is pretty good! It almost tastes like candy!
