One more reason to sweat is to maintain good cerebrovascular health. Exercising and not smoking are two main ways to prevent age-related memory loss. It is estimated that if you started exercising at 50, your brain would improve memory and function by as much as 10 years. 10 years! I want to be sharp where I hit my silver years... this is definitely one of the ways I'm going to stay on top of my game.

When you combine exercise with the brain agility games like sudoku and crossword puzzles, look out... that's what they mean when they say 80 is the new 60!

Ohhhh yeah! This is definitely one of the areas where the motto, "Use it or lose it" comes into play... and I plan on using it. Whose up for Trivial Pursuit, anyone?

Do you do sudoku Y's Guy? I tried it a while back... it definitely hurts my brain. I was getting better at them, but now I think I suck again.

For some reason that kind of stuff comes easy to me. Maybe it is because my mom always got me those logic puzzles as a kid when we went to the book store... that is all I liked to get there. Conversely, that is probably why I read like a sloth and need to spellcheck everything! I think, again, it is one of those things that you use or lose, just like a foreign language or music.

It's a numbers game where you fill in the missing numbers

It is a number puzzle in which the numbers 1 through 9 must be placed into a grid of cells so that each row or column contains only one of each number. This is a puzzle that a person works on individually.

Here is a sample of what a sudoku puzzle looks like.

Oh, ok, I have seen that game before. Now I see why your brain hurt. I probably tried it like 5 minutes, and then quit. Too hard for me.

Sudoku hurts my brain too. I probably would have been really good at it when I was about 10 years younger.

Mahjongg :D

Mahjongg is a game I would probably never play anywhere other than a computer because of how complicated it is to setup.

Have you ever played Memory, where there's a bunch of rows and columns with cards placed face-down and each player takes a turn flipping two cards at a time trying to make a pair ?

Well the object of Mahjongg is basically the same except it's one player, that grid is in one of numerous funky shapes, and the tiles are stacked multiple layers deep. You select pairs of tiles with the same symbol on them and remove them from that crazy stack you see in the photos. With Mahjongg instead of the symbols being hidden like in Memory, they are placed face-up and you can not remove a tile that is partially or fully covered nor can you remove a tile that is not on the far-left or far-right edge of the row it is in.

On a good day I can remove all 144 tiles in the version on my computer in just under 3 minutes, finding a match every 2 and a half seconds. :D
