Jumping can be a great workout. It gives the same energy consumption as running, except that you get to stay in place. If you jump rope for 30 minutes, it is the equivalent of running a 8.5 minute mile.

Jumping increases your endurance, strength, aerobic conditioning, coordination, agility, timing, and rhythm. Overall, it is a great way to get in shape.

Just be careful if you have knee issues... Have you ever tried jumping in a pool... it is tough... I have my classes jump and they are out of breath fast... water jumping is a great alternative, just let the lifeguard know what you are going to be doing so you don't scare them
