Need a little bit more of a clue?

What is different about a light bulb after you turn it on for a while and then turn it off?

I think I figured it out!

Is it this?

When you turn on a light, it gets warm or hot. So to figure out which switch belongs to which light, you can turn on light on and just leave it on. Turn another switch on for a little while and then turn it off. And then never turn the 3rd switch on. This way you'll see which light is on, another light will be warm (from having been turned on a while), and then the 3rd light will be cold.

Is this right?

Okay here is my new riddle:

There are 20 people in an empty, square room. Each person has full sight of the entire room and everyone in it without turning his head or body, or moving in any way other than the eyes. Where can you place an apple so that all but one person can see it?

My riddle is more of a moral dilemma than a riddle... There is no right or wrong answer so I will pick the solution I like the best from the answers given in one week! Here is the situation:

There is a father and son... the son borrowed some money from the father and then the son squandered it away. The father told the son he was going to have to be his indentured servant for 3 years to repay the debt... the son proposed a different solution to the situation, the son said that if he put two stones in a sack, one white one black and the son picked out the white stone his debt would be forgiven... if he picked out the black stone he would be the servant for 5 years. The father agreed. The two men went down to the river bed to pick two stones, The father thought this would be an easy way to get free back-breaking labor so he grabbed 2 black stones and put them in the sack... the son saw this but dared not call his father out in fear of the retribution would be much worse than the 5 years of servitude. The father then approached to son to pick a stone from the sack... What should the son do?

Well, the son needs to repay the debt, so I think he should just pick out a black stone even though he knows there are two of them! Maybe later down the road, the son can bring up that he knew his dad put in two black stones, but not for a while... maybe at that point the dad will know that he was wrong to do that and let the son off the hook before the 5 years are up.

If the son is going to get played by the dad like that, he should play back... When the son sees the dad pick up two black stones, the son should then pick up a white stone and conceal it in his hand, then bring his mom out to explain the situation that there is a black and white stone in the sack and what is going on... as the son reaches into the sack with the white stone in his hand concealed already... he just pulls out the white stone... the father will not be able to say anything because the mother is right there and bam, the son is free... but he should do the dishes that night in honor of a game well played!!!

Here is what I do if I were the son: I'd flip the decision on the dad and right before pulling out the stone, I would apologize for the money offer to work it off in a fair way ask him if he has ever done anything he felt guilty about. I would say I could not pick out a rock and get off for free so I want to make things right. If he refuses and makes me pick, I would then pull out both black rocks and say, "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone!"
