We've all heard about how Subway is a good place to eat out at and still be healthy. The Biggest Loser TV show promotes it all the time. We've also all heard about Jared's amazing story of how he lost 245 pounds by grabbing a nutritional information brochure at his local SUBWAY restaurant and started a reduced calorie diet by eating two SUBWAY submarine sandwiches a day. In a year's time, by incorporating exercise into his daily routine, and eating subway marine sandwiches, the 245 lbs came off!

So is Subway really healthy? Yes, it is, but it always depends on what your order and how much! Remember to not add extra cheese and double the meat and then add 4 different toppings like mayonnaise, oil, southwest sauce, and ranch.

On Subway's menu they have a list of 7 sandwiches with 6 grams of fat or less have a calorie range of 230-370 and have as little as 3 grams of fat. Choosing one of these subs can save hundreds of calories and at least 21 grams of fat in just one meal. This is a good way of how you can eat out and be healthy at Subway.

Speaking of subway, I was in there the other day and I grabbed a bag of Baked Lays because I like them a lot. I always thought it was just a gimmick that they are healthier, but I compared them to some Kettle/Tim's-type chips and the Baked Lays are actually way healthier. I was surprised.

Along with the baked chips... have you tried Sun dried Tomato and Basil Wheat thins... I don't much care for wheat thins or basil or tomatoes... but when you add it all together it is awesome! Try them... you won't be dissappointed...

One other snack I've come to like a lot... if you get a chance, try some pita chips... mmm mmm good (especially with dips)!!!

Yeah, but be careful with the dips because that is when you can dangerously start making a healthy snack unhealthy!

Wait, wait! Pita chips are great with . . . drum roll please . . . HUMMUS! While hummus has a fair amount of olive oil, it is mostly made of chickpeas, which are high in fiber. It also has lots of garlic. If you have the time, I recommend making it from scratch or from a mix.

Compare hummus: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-hummus-i16137

to Spinach dip: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories- ... ach-i90903

WHOA! :)

Whoa! Hummus doesn't look like it is very good for you at all!!! Oh, but you have to look at the 2 nutrition tables that you provided. The serving sizes very. The one for hummus is for a portion of 246 grams and the one for Spinach dip is for 30 grams. That's 8 x more hummus! So if you calculate Spinach dip to reach the same portion size of the nutrition table you provided for hummus, that would make Spinach dip have 80 grams of fat and 800 calories!

When I'm traveling for work, Subway (and Panera, if I have time to sit) are my go-to healthy options when I need something quick. My favorite Subway sandwich is the turkey and ham, because it fills me up more than just getting one kind of meat and it's still a pretty healthy combo.

I'm also not a huge veggies-on-sandwiches person, but I always make myself pick at least four of the veggie-type items when I go to Subway. (My current favorite combo is spinach, black olives, pickles and the banana peppers)

I'm not sure if there is a PP in Seattle, but we had them in my college town (and they were open until 2 a.m./4 a.m. on weekends). Very good food. I tried the one in Tacoma a couple times after it opened and wasn't impressed, so I'm guessing they've improved. Good choice, though. Lots of healthy options there, and quick, too!

And they have veggies you can barely taste... like mushrooms and been sprouts and cucumbers... the more bland veggies the better in my book ;) ! However I do have them throw some onions and jalepenos on the grill to add flavor.
