Post subject: The First Sonic in Western Washington Opened Yesterday

I thought it was the first Sonic in the entire State of Washington, but I was wrong. I looked up their locations on Sonic's website and it said there were two Sonic's in eastern Washington. There is one in Yakima, and there is one in Wenatchee.

But the first Sonic in western Washington opened up yesterday and it opened up about 1/2 of a mile down the street from my house. There were hundreds of people that couldn't wait to try Sonic out. It made traffic around my house a mess! It took me 45 minutes to drive 1 mile from the YMCA that I work out at to my home. And I guess the wait to eat at Sonic was about 2.5 hours. When I drove by, I could see the cars waiting in rows just to get their turn to drive up to the drive up ordering place to place their orders.

I found it even more crazy that people were waiting that long to stand in line and wait to eat fast food. I understand that Sonic is something new around here, but the fact is, is that it is still fast food and not that good for you. Don't get me wrong, I want to try out Sonic too, I just don't think I'd ever wait 2.5 hours to wait in line to eat some greasy food though!

Here is a photo of some of the people waiting outside in line to try out the new Sonic!

I just read that apparently the Mayor cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony of Sonic Drive-In at Puyallup, Washington yesterday. Did Mayors do this at other location for Sonic Drive-ins across the United States?

Sonic is pretty good, but yeah, there's no way I'm waiting two and a half hours to eat. I won't even wait that long at steakhouses.

I don't know how packed the Sonics around here were when they opened. I didn't know they were here until after they opened and the ones I ate at in north Florida had been around awhile.

We had sonics in Houston too... they remind me of Dairy Queens... I used to go there for the dessert and one or two menu items when I eat real food. They got so lazy in Houston that the car hops quit wearing roller skates. 2 hours of waiting for Sonic... I don't think I'd even wait for 4 cars in the drive thru line! But I do love their Cream Slushies

I hate Dairy Queen food, but love their treats.

It's just like when the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts store opened up, they had the long lines of people waiting hours to get their donuts. Gee, it's just a stupid donut!! I mean donuts are yummy, but like you guys all said... 2 something hours to wait for it... how stupid. Wait a week and then just drive up and get served fast.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts

I had one of these within walking distance of me when I moved here, I could smell the doughnuts in the morning. Some years ago now a bank chain bought the property and the KK left. I guess the economy thing happened close to the time they bought the property or something because the building has been vacant for years now and still even looks like a KK 'cept for the missing signs. :(

The lines yesterday were a lot better than on the first day, but there was still a line. The wait was probably more like 45 minutes to an hour yesterday compared to the 2 hours and 30 minutes on Monday.

That would be too tempting for me to have a donut shop that close and smell them in the morning. I would be a blimp!! I love donuts, but don't buy them.

Yeah, all these new places opening up get flooded with people the first few days, and after the newness wares off, gee, some actually have to close up shop. That's sorta sad!!

Speaking of doughnuts... Let me let y'all in on a little known secret that we southerners know that y'all don't. Krispy Kreme sucks Ray! If you ever make it to Texas try a Shipley's... you will never want any other doughnut... it's that good... or bad depending on how you look at it. I lost about 10 pounds just from moving away from Shipley's. Believe it or not!
