Post subject: Hope for a new you!

As with every life situation we are all faced with choices; when it comes to our health, there is no exception. To be healthy or not to be healthy... that is the question. I always thought that it was my choices... my decisions... my willpower that would either make or break my diet, my exercise or my general overall health. I kept my goals to myself, internalizing my vision of a healthy me. Everything in me said I could do it on my own, that I didn't need help. This can be very dangerous because it is true you might be able to accomplish the tasks on your own, or you could just as easily be bearing the secret burdens of self-doubt, despair, fear of failure or fear of success. One cord is easily broken but when you weave 3 cords together, it is tougher to break! If we speak or write our goals (even if it is just on this forum)... if we support each other and are not afraid of seeking help we can have a better chance of succeeding in our efforts.
Change starts with a vision... a vision of a new you. What do you want to change in your life? I was at a youth forum the other day and I heard a man, Eric Boles (excellent), speaking. He was asking the audience to picture what they want most in their head and then compare it to what they want right now. I want to ask you the same question in regards to your health.
What do you want most of all? and What do you want right now?
With your vision in mind, you can have a stronger willpower to say no to, "What do I want right now?"... when it contradicts with "What do I want most of all?" When what I want right now is 3 doughnuts but what I want most of all is to be healthy... with my vision, I can turn down the right now for the most of all!
You can write your vision in here and then keep revisiting the post with updates, questions, comments, successes, attempts that didn't go well. Remember, falling down and getting back up is important. Some people say failure is not an option; I think it is a necessity. Failing allows us appreciate our success and gives us insight into helping others when they are faced with the same struggles.
I read in a book, Michelangelo, the artist not the turtle, was asked by the Pope why he was so sculpting away on a big block of marble so feverishly. He told the Pope he could see the angel imprisoned in the marble and wanted to set him free. We all have something in us that we were meant to be; let's help each other chip away until we realize our goals!
What is your Goals/Vision?
Good Luck!
