Your actual calorie need will be greater than basal. Your activity level will determine how many more calories than your basal amount that you need.
- If you are sedentary - add one-third to your basal calorie need
- If you are moderately active where you get about 90 minutes of exercise per week - add half of your basal calorie need to your basal calorie number.
- If you are athletic and run or job about 5 miles per day - you can double your basal calorie requirement and still maintain your weight.
