I just discovered that the high school down the street from me has a few classes for adults in the evening and one of the classes is a CPR class. The CPR class only costs $30 and I'm thinking of taking it. :cap-smile:

I have been trained in CPR and it is a very useful thing to know... I think everyone should take it. You never know when you might need it and it's one of those things like riding a bicycle... you don't forget how to do it!

Well, some people forget what to do! I have been trained in CPR a few times and it has been a while since my last training so I'm not so sure I remember what to do. I have heard though as long as you do some compressions and some breaths, you are more likely helping the person than hurting them. So I figure if I am the only one around, it is better to try something than do nothing at all... What do you think?

I took the first aid course too years ago. I sorta remember how to do CPR. I remember something about 15 - 2. 15 compressions, 2 breaths... and keep repeating that until helps arrives. But I am not sure that's how it's done today. It seems like they are always changing the CPR procedure.

That's probably why the certification expires every two years and you have to get it renewed if you are wanting to keep your certification.

I was a lifeguard and we had to get recertified every year. CPR methods and techniques sometimes change so it's important relearn every few years. I think it's very useful and definitely recommend taking the class :)

So as a lifeguard did you ever have to give CPR to anybody? If so, how often?

Thankfully I never had to really revive someone, but I was required to practice a certain amount of hours every month. We would go through all the steps on a person or a dummy.
