This treatment mainly involves application of lukewarm herbal oil all over the body of the patient. Pizhichil is the Malayalam word for `squeezing’ and as the name indicates it is a treatment in which warm medicated oil is squeezed over the body of the patient from a cloth piece. There will be two or more masseurs who will rhythmically squeeze the oil to the patient’s body and at the same time massage him/ her in a scientific way.

This therapy continues for about one hour for a period of one or three weeks, depending on the prescription of the Ayurvedic practitioner.
