i think everyone can get infections from everywhere. It just that we have our immune system and protective system like the skin. Our body works wonders but may always be compromised, like what the last read I had from Yahoo that says about supergerms. And also, I've read that pimples are caused by staph aureus so it can be contagious too but I think it's one of the bacteria that can easily be managed.

Good point blackberry... well said!! Especially about the staph aureus.... because pimples, boils, pustules, and/or MRSA can all look (sorta) the same... at the beginning anyway... and a person may not even know if it's just a pimple... or an infection that is contagious.

It's not actually that they're contagious. But you can actually spread pimples on your face that's why dermatologists also advice people not to prick and scratch the affected areas given the fact that they're caused by staph bacteria. Any bacteria can be spread, it's just that staph aureus is very manageable compared to others. Sorry if I made it confusing. :)

I understand... that makes sense. I've just never thought of pimples being contagious like that before. :)

I agree with blackberry... everything is contaminated. I am not a germaphobe :o or anything, but I will never eat peanuts or pretzels at a bar. I also have become aware as to how often I wash my hands, especially before eating or touching my face. I never used to realize just how often I touch my face. Just being aware has made me become a little more cautious

When I had a goatee I used to touch my face a lot, and I had acne. I got rid of the goatee, quit touching my face, and got rid of the acne. :D

If I go awhile without shaving, I break out the day after I shave. I'm convinced it's because I end up touching my face a lot thinking "man I need to shave!" :D

I think it is because of the hairs trying to grow throught the skin... and I too need to shave!

I can only think about this: when you shave the tendency is you expose your pores to a shaver that's more likely contaminated. Also, any part of our body that's exposed to air has germs on it including hair, so when you shave exposed pores + contaminated blade + contaminated hair = infection.

Another is that yes, you can get ingrown hair from shaving so it's not acne, it's medically termed folliculitis. :)

Yes, I believe sometimes a person may look like they have a lot of acne, but it could also be ingrown hairs (on a guys face) just like you said.
