Anyone ever heard of a connection between your body or core temp and your dreams ?
I've read things about our core temps having an influence over whether we feel sleepy or not.

It seems like the hotter I am when sleeping, the more I dream. Any time I have a cold and a fever, I have wild vivid dreams that I almost always remember for days. But when I'm cold or just plain comfortable, I can't remember dreaming.

I'm wondering if there's some connection to our core temp and it's ability to regulate whether we're sleepy or not, and the mind being switched on to process information from our senses.

It would seem that the higher our temp is, the closer to being in full processing mode our brains would be. However since our eyes are closed the brain would default to processing existing images in our minds for that sense.

I wonder if lowering the temperature in someones bedroom a few degrees could be an effective treatment for nightmares while the person works out the things in their mind giving them the nightmares in the first place.

Hot, cold doesn't matter when I sleep, I always dream... but I do find that when I take Nyquil, I dream intense dreams! I've always had a high homeostasis though... the ability of the body to regulate it's temperature. When it's hot out I'm cool and when it's cold I'm warm. I wonder if temperature affects people with low homeostasis?!?

I don't know. I'm cold most of the time and have to wear socks and long pants to bed to stay comfortable and I find myself dreaming quite often. I've checked my body temperature the last few weeks because I wanted to make sure I didn't have a fever with this Bronchitis that I have... my temperature has been around 97 degrees, and I've still been dreaming!

What about the tone of dreams ?

I wonder if people are prone to having nightmares more often when they're heated.

My dreams are always crazy ape bonkers. I dream all the time- I can fall asleep and be dreaming almost instantly (I know this when I've been woken by something 5 minutes after I've gone to bed and I can remember the dream I was having).

I'll have to pay attention to the tone of my dreams the next time that I have a temperature. I can't recall if they are any different off hand.

Last night I remember what I was dreaming about and I had a normal body temperature. The dream wasn't super scary, but it wasn't pleasant either. It was weird... I was dreaming about my childhood home being full of spiders in the backyard just off the porch. There were spider webs everywhere and I wondered why my parent's hadn't sprayed the house and the spiders with the Ortho bug home protection stuff. So I got the Ortho stuff out of their garage and started killing all of the spiders with it. I remember as one of them were dying it went crazy and started running around and then ran up my leg and onto my head where it started biting me. These spiders were bigger than normal too, they were like mouse size. But then there was this gigantic one right by the back door camping out in a web just under the porch light. I remember being afraid to kill it with the Ortho Home Defense stuff because I didn't want that one freaking out and running up my leg onto my head too! This spider was huge! So then after a while I came back to where that spider was and it was gone! I didn't know where it went and I was freaking out because now it is still alive and still huge!

Anyway, that was about the end of the dream. I never knew what happened to that huge spider, but it sure was a strange dream. :?

If I dream about scary spiders at a normal body temperature, I'm scared to see what I dream about at an elevated body temperature! :scared:
