I hate it when Myopia is referred to as a 'disease'.

There are several other things like that too that annoy me. Alcoholism being referred to as a disease for instance. An illness it may be, but a disease it isn't.

To me, a disease is something you catch.

I didn't even know what Myopia was, I had to do a quick search on google to find out. And then you know what I found out? That I have it!

Definition:
Myopia is also called nearsightedness or shortsightedness, is a refractive defect of the eye in which collimated light produces image focus in front of the retina when accommodation is relaxed. Those with myopia see nearby objects clearly but distant objects appear blurred.

I used to have better than 20/20 vision, but when I turned 23, things in the distance started to get blurry. At first I had no idea what was going on since my vision had always been so good. But then we went to the eye doctor and they told me I was nearsighted and needed corrective lens to see in the distance. My nearsightedness is not that bad. I am still legal to drive without glasses, but it is annoying as I used to be able to see everything way far away super clear. Not sure why I went nearsighted. Just figured it had to do with getting older...

I agree with Laughing Gravy though. I don't really consider it a disease. Condition sounds better.
