Sinusitis is a sinus infection. It is an inflammation of the sinuses and nasal passages. A sinus infection can cause a headache or pressure in the eyes, nose, cheek area, or on one side of the head. A person with a sinus infection may also have a cough, a fever, bad breath, and nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions.

There are certain foods that can help aid Sinusitis, and there are other foods that can make it worse. They are listed below.

Increase intake of:
  • Garlic supplement
  • Yarrow leaves
  • Echinacea
  • Onions
  • Ephedra herbs
  • A multi-vitamin with vitamins A & E.
  • Wasabi powder/sauce clears mucus and has anti-inflammatory powers.
  • A mixture of freshly squeezed lemon juice in hot water
  • Chicken soup
  • Fresh juice
  • Honey/mint or ginger teas

Decrease intake of:
  • Refined sugars - these can provide the sinusitis causing bacteria with nutrition.
  • Dairy products (cheese, milk, yogurt, butter)
  • Sweets
  • Chocolates
  • Yeast products
  • Alcohol
  • Soft drinks
  • Smoking
