Was there anything you did to help relieve the coughing?

I am currently getting over a case of Bronchitis right now. I've been coughing about two weeks straight and it is not very much fun. Bronchitis is an acute inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. Pretty much any time I take a deep breath it makes me want to cough. Urges to cough also come when I'm not taking in deep breaths. Night time is the worst. I have consistently been waking up during the middle of the nights with these cough attacks. Half of the time it feels like I have nothing to cough up and it is just dry back there. I don't have a fever, but I feel really cold right now and I am wearing 3 layers.

I can't wait until this goes away!

Vicodin, along with being a pain-reliever, is a great cough suppressant. You need to get a doctor's prescription, but it is the best at stopping a nagging cough that won't go away!

When I get coughs I use this stuff. The only bad thing I have to say about this stuff is that there's too much in the bottle for just one, or possibly two people. Every time I've bought it, it has ended up sitting in the medicine cabinet about half full and I've had to throw it out when it expires.

I used to get Bronchitis all the time when I was a kid. I guess normally they prescribe Penicillin for it but because I was thought to be allergic to Penicillin I was constantly taking erythromycin pills that looked something like this

I'm not entirely sure because it was a long time ago, but I think every time I had to take those it was for about a week, maybe 10 days at a time. Once or twice a day I believe.

Thanks for the information. I might try the Tylenol stuff. I've tried the NyQuil stuff, but it doesn't stop the cough enough. It's been about 3 weeks and I'm still coughing! I do feel it finally starting to get better. At least I'm able to sleep through the night now without being awaken every 2 hours with a cough attack. I also found that if you have access to a steam room it helps. I went in the steam room at the YMCA yesterday and I felt great afterwards. I guess getting the steam down deep in your lungs helps moisten things up in there.

Yup, I've been using one every night! I can't tell if it helps or not, but I think it does. It makes the air feel more like outside air. I like it.

I actually think this thing is about to be over. I'm feeling a lot better today! I've had this for about a month now so it is about time for it to be gone!
