Have a Big Glass of H2O
After sleeping for 6 to 8 hours, you have lost a significant amount of fluids. Hydrating yourself will perk you up, says Dr. Andrews.

After I wake up in the morning, one of the first things I do is drink a big glass of water!

Um, not really now that I think of it. It just quenches my thirst more than anything.

Not to get the two confused, but maybe you are still tired from just waking up. I think what you said "quenches my thirst more than anything" is just what this topic is about, since upon waking up, you were thirsty, and when you are thirsty, your body is telling you to drink something because it needs fluids. Thirst is a signal that your body is on the way to dehydration. So keep doing what you're doing... it's definitely good for you!!

And many times, people can actually mistake the thirst sensation with the hunger sensation. Before you eat a snack because you think you are hungry, try drinking a glass of water first... It couldn't hurt... worst case scenario you have to go to the restroom more... best case you realize it isn't hunger that is driving your need for a snack, thus eliminating that extra calories you don't need...
