If you have high blood pressure you should try and increase your intake of basil, parsley, onions, and salads.

You should also decrease your intake of smoked meat, processed foods, canned foods, and alcohol.

Why is high blood pressure bad?
High blood pressure narrows your arteries and makes your heart work harder. This increases your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke.

If you have high blood pressure along with any of the following risk factors, you are at a greater risk for heart attack, stroke or other complications.
  • Age - risk goes up as you get older
  • Gender - men are at a greater risk
  • Tobacco use
  • Having diabetes
  • Having high cholesterol
  • Having a close relative who has had a heart attack at a young age (under 55 for men; under 60 for women)
  • Not getting enough exercise
  • Eating an unhealthy diet (high in saturated fat and salt)
  • Being overweight

Some ways you can reduce your risk include not using tobacco, eating less salt, maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active (try to get at least 30 minutes of activity on most days), eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables, and use alcohol in moderation.

It is also mentioned on this healthypals site that:

Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds (rich in magnesium), and chia seeds, also help reduce high blood pressure.
