I think the key to achieving your resolutions is to make them specific and not too broad... make them actions and not concepts... have a measurable result and not subjective... and give yourself a time frame that is immediate and not by next year.

For example: "I want to lose weight." How? What steps are you going to take to accomplish this? Make the steps your resolution... not "to lose weight". Make it an action not a concept!

"I'm going to work out more." What is more? Get specific... is it realistic and sustainable? Do you have a set schedule as to when you work out... are you going to work out more each month, each day, each week? What exactly are you going to do to work out more? Join a new class, get a trainer, schedule in a new work out? Get as specific as possible!

As far as the time goes, I will help with this if you want me to. If you would like to add your own personal resolution to the post below I will revisit it in 3 months to check on progress and see if your holding yourself accountable to your resolutions... I will also randomly add a comment to it, just to bring it up every now and then to remind you about it... Any takers  ?!? Good luck!!!

I am going to do my first half marathon in the summer of 2010. I've never done one before, I've done a triathlon, but not any kind of marathon. The longest distance I've ran in a row is a 10K or 6.2 miles so 13.1 miles will be a challenge.

My New Year's Resolution is to become more consistent with my work out routine by going to the gym M-F and completing a specific work out routine that I have written down... whether I'm sore... or tired... or not in the mood. I have been doing it, but I skip it when I am feeling lazy. It is time to nip this lazy bug in the butt!

Gulp :peace:
