Is there anyone out there concerned about the government trying to pass this health care plan which will control all of our options of health care?

Are any of you scared?

I heard that they want to take away Medicare. I heard that if an elderly person needs a new knee, just forget it, because they don't have much more time to live anyway. It sounds like the elderly will really be the ones to suffer. And why? Because usually young people have less health issues than the elderly.

But just remember, if you are young right now, one day you will be "one of the elderly".

And what about your parents? Are you concerned about their health issues and what they will be denied if this plan gets passed?

Help me out here with my fears, if I am wrong!!

I really don't pay attention to politics much so I haven't heard of this new health care plan. Can you explain it so I know what you are talking about?

Universal Health Care for all Americans in the United States, everyone gets health insurance!!
No premiums to pay each month (I think).

DOWNSIDE OF THIS, some things I have heard...

• Everyone who didn't have health insurance before will bombard the doctors clinics for appointments. It will take you forever to make an appointment for yourself. If you have a serious health problem, you could wait a long time to see a doctor. Those who are really sick may even die before they can get an appointment to see a doctor.
• No premiums? Who's going to pay for it? Health coverage for all Americans who live in the United States?!?! That's a lot of people getting free health care and not paying for it. We will all pay for it, through high TAXES, don't you think!?!?!?!

So... another question I have is... If you already have private health insurance and want to keep it, will you not only pay for your own health care insurance, but also be paying for everyone else to have health insurance coverage too by paying higher taxes????

And what about all the people who cancel their private health insurance and go with the universal health care plan, won't this make private insurance companies have less income coming in, and wouldn't you think for those of us who keep our private health insurance that the provider would raise our rates even higher than what we are paying today???

Another thing, what if employers who give health care benefits to their employees stop doing so since they might figure why give it as a benefit when their employees can get it free through the government.

What if you come down with a serious illness, and the government says they won't pay for the treatment you need to survive because it cost too much money??

Have I been hearing too many horror stories?

Is any of this true?

Would the President of the United States do this to us Americans??

I had no idea there was talk of this kind of health care for the U.S.! Are they still just "talking" about it or are they serious about putting it in effect?

I would think a lot of problems would come out of a universal health care system that nobody has to pay for especially coming from a system where everyone has to pay for it. I would think many people who coudln't afford to go to the doctor before would bombart the place!

If you already have private health insurance, why would you keep it with this new system? Would there be any advantage for you?

This kind of system sounds crazy to me! Isn't this what Canada has?

I have heard that Obama is very serious about putting his health care plan in effect. If it were up to him only, it would already be in effect.

I have heard that some people would rather keep their private insurance plan for reasons maybe of going to their choice of doctors, more options, etc.

And, yes, this is what Canada has. Natasha Richardson needed a helicopter to get her to the hospital when she had that ski accident, and I heard that Canada didn't have an available helicopter at the time... every second counts when you need emergency medical care, and now she is dead.

I heard that if employers want to keep their private health insurance for their employees, they will be taxed 8 percent payroll tax that will go towards the Obama health care insurance plan. Now what employer would go along with that and keep private health insurance for their employees??

Wow, this is crazy and if it is true and replaces the current health care system, a lot of problems can arise....

How would crazy people get their medications ?

I'm being serious. If you've never had to deal with someone who suffers from schizophrenia that hasn't been taking, or has adjusted to their meds, well, it's no fun at all.

Maybe that's the least of the governments concerns!!!

The thought of thousands of crazy people suddenly losing their medical coverage sends chills down my spine. It would probably be a little like playing Resident Evil every time you go outside.
