I was just talking to a lady who has her sister living with her. This sister was diagnosed with COPD at a public health clinic, I guess a couple of weeks ago it was. They gave her an oxygen tank and sent her home.

So today something happens and she's taken to the hospital, where they discover she doesn't have COPD. Apparently she's had Pneumonia this entire time.

I'm left here wondering, was this misdiagnosis due to her using what could be considered sub-standard medical care, or was the doctor quick to make a smoking related diagnosis because of all the buzz around smoking and the fact that she's a smoker.

It seems like doctors are misdiagnosing all of the time these days! I can't remember the last time I've been to the doctor when they actually got whatever was wrong with me right the first time.
