Sweaty Feet

Wear cotton socks to help your feet breathe, or wear moisture-wicking socks when you are working out... they absorb perspiration, so your feet cool off.

When I painted houses I had to pressure wash them before I could paint them. Even after the washing was done, I still had to clean brushes and airless sprayers using a water hose.
I had terrible problems with sweaty, wet, and stinky feet.

I tried getting pretty much every type of shoe suggested to me, from genuine leather to shoes with air vents in them. Same problem. I've tried changing my socks multiple times throughout the day like they teach you in the Military (never been, I just pay attention), but when pressure washing it doesn't help to have dry socks if your shoes are soaked.

I tried rain boots, but they reduce mobility to the point where being on a tile roof where it can get pretty slippery with the algae that grows up there can be dangerous. Flexible ankles are important when on an incline like that.

I may be getting back into painting roofs on the weekends this summer and I think I will just face the music and bring 2-3 pairs of shoes and socks with me. I figure that for what I was spending on "good" shoes I can get a few pairs of "decent" shoes and just change them like the Military does their socks throughout the day. :D

I think as long as you are wearing socks it's better than nothing... My feet get sweaty when I workout, but I've never had a problem with them being stinky. I have heard that is because I wear socks. I wear them all of the time if I am wearing enclosed shoes and that is the key. I guess there are women who wear shoes to work that are enclosed, but they do not wear any time of socks or nylons. Those women end up having stinky feet at the end of the day when they take their shoes off!

joebert ... have you tried greasing your shoes or boots? My husband use to have to grease his leather corked boots so his feet wouldn't get wet from the rainy season in the woods. His feet were totally dry until the grease wore off, then he'd re-grease his boots again. He needed the cork boots so as to have traction and not slip and slide all over the hillside terrain in the woods.

These cork boots sound interesting for starters, especially the part about not slipping and sliding in them.
I'll definitely have to look into them and greasing them. :cap-smile:
