I just came across this article about Disneyland re-designing some of their rides to accommodate heavy passengers.

Is there really that many overweight going to Disneyland that they have to redesign the rides ?!
I know Disneyland is where all of the monster athletes say they're going when they win some sporting event, but there can't be that many of them.

What happens when a ride gets redesigned around heavy people to the point that a lighter person going on it would get something like whiplash ?

I can see it now, "you must be [--------this--------] wide to ride this ride"

Wow, this is interesting. America is definitely getting out of control with weight problems. Instead of fixing the problems, they are tailoring to them. When I was a kid growing up, the only signs I saw were the ones that said you had to be a certain height or taller to ride the ride. Never anything about your body width!

Pretty soon they are going to have to make airplanes, trains and buses wider so the bigger passengers can fit on those too!

Didn't an airline get a bunch of bad publicity for trying to charge large people for two seats not too long ago ?

All I know is if they start making wide people seats, they better throw in some tall people seats while they're at it. I'm 6' 2" tall and my knees are always in someones back.

Yep, I agree with all of you... they need to say... sorry people, just go lose some weight!!! Can you see them redoing the roller coaster??

I know that if you are past a certain width that you have to buy two plane seats to ride in an airplane. I was sitting next to this guy that was to small for his seat and I am not a small person either, 6'2" - 190 and with the two of us side by side the airline attendant asked me if I would like a different seat... I graciously took it. If the flight had been full that 4 hour flight would have been miserable. If you can't fit in the seat, you should have to buy 2 seats... just my personal opinion as a courtesy to the other passengers sitting next to you who bought their seat too!
