Obesity now killing more than world hunger: Struggles with Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

I found this very interesting. I was reading an article in the Reader's Digest and they found that according to an October report from the World Health Organization, there are now more people dieing worldwide from being obese rather than from being underweight.

You always see those commercials on TV about sponsoring children to help them battle being hungry, but now don't be surprised when TV commercials start appearing about sponsoring children to help them get healthy and to stop them from going obese.

Apparently nearly 18 million children under age 5 are estimated to be overweight. These numbers cannont continue to grow.

You'd think we could kill two birds with one stone if we could balance out the two groups... the obese and the hungry! Do you ever think the human population will get it and figure out you don't need to have everything... you just need to have happiness; or will there always be those who have too much and those who don't have enough?

People will forever think that they need more to be happy. As long as there are people with enough willing to reach out to those that don't though, I think everything will essentially be ok. The world certainly isn't fair, but we make do.

I think that is very true. Somebody may say all they need to be happy is a certain thing, but as soon as they get that thing, they are already thinking about the next thing that will make them happy.

I don't think happiness is a reaction to attaining something... I think happiness is a choice independent of attainment or lack there of. Happiness cannot be bought. You can have everything and still not be happy if you choose to... and you can have nothing and choose to have happiness :peace:

I think you are right, but then there are those people who do not realize that happiness is a choice and think it is dependant upon what they have or don't have.

Then those people will always be trying to buy something that is not for sale... I guess they will keep consuming until they realize it's not in getting stuff to make you happy, but simply being happy with what you've got!

What I can also say is that, people will never be satisfied no matter what kind of happiness one attains. There will always be another after the last.
