A Banana a Day Keeps Depression Away??
Eating a banana every day facilitates both cross talk among your brain and the effect of certain neurotransmitters - like serotonin and its precursors.

These two effects may mean that eating a banana a day helps keep the therapist away by preventing recurring minor depression.

Besides coffee, bananas are our largest source of anti-oxidants.

Really? I didn't know that... I always thought blueberries were one of the biggest sources of anti-oxidants. I didn't bananas were a big source. Good to know.

Yeah, I didn't know that either, but according to Dr. Michael Roizen... they are. It "is" nice to know, because bananas are yummy, and not expensive to buy, and so easy to find many ways to eat them.

The only way I really like to eat bananas are plain right out of the peal. What other ways do you like to eat them?

I eat them right from the peel too. Some people like to use their imaginations though, so some other ways to eat bananas are:

  • Put slices of bananas on breakfast cereal or oatmeal.
  • Put slices of bananas in yogurt.
  • Put slices of bananas on your peanut butter sandwich.
  • Freeze a banana and eat it like a popsicle. I have heard they taste just like a banana popsicle or ice cream.
  • Make banana bread or banana muffins.
  • Make a banana fruit smoothie.

Sometimes I make a banana smoothie, but when I do that I don't feel like I am eating something as healthy as if I were just eating the plain banana. Milk and sugar is added to the smoothie!

Does anyone else have the problem with bananas where when you get them they're not ripe, and by the time you think about eating them again they're too ripe ?

Of course there's always banana bread and whatnot, but other than that it's hard to get a bunch of bananas and actually get to eat them all. At least for me.

I experience the same thing. That's the one thing annoying about bananas... can't buy too many at one time or they will turn brown or black color on you, and I hate them that way.

I think the way I solve that problem is by only buying a limited number at a time. I don't really buy more than 4 at a time and by the time I get around to eating those 4 they haven't gone bad yet...
