Hi Sally,
Here is a 7 day detox diet that I have tried before and really liked. I really felt like my body had a great cleansing afterwards. Please note, everyone should check with their doctor before undertaking a detox diet that lasts longer than a week.
Day 1: You may have liquids only. Ideally this would be just water - perhaps with a squeeze of fresh lemon to neutralize acidity.
Day 2: You may have liquid and fruit only. Buy organic fruits as you will be eliminating the pesticide residues. Apples, pineapple, mango, grapes, and watermelon are all great fruits to eat on day 2.
Day 3: You may add raw vegetables to your liquid and fruits. Again make sure you buy organic vegetalbes.
Day 4: You may add cooked vegetables and brown rice. Try to cook the vegetables for as short as time as possible to retain their maximum nutritious value. Use short-grain brown rice as this is the most absorbent type. It will soak up toxins and digest easily. Spices okay to cook with include cayenne pepper and ginger.
Day 5: You may add beans, lentils, nuts, and seeds. Do not eat rice with any of these foods yet. Try to leave 4 hours between eating the rice on the other foods. Nuts should be eaten raw and unsalted.
Day 6: You can add grains and live yogurt. Try to get yogurt made from goat's or sheep's milk because it is easier to digest than live yogurt from cow's milk. The grains you eat should be wholegrains.
Day 7: You may add fish. Oily fish such as sardines, tuna and salmon are best. By this stage you should feel more relaxed and not in a hurry to eatch everything in site.
After these 7 days, you are now ready to re-introduce other foods back into your diet. Add dairy products and meats gradually. Add wheat last. If you re-introduce these foods too quickly you increase the chances of digestive problems.
Good luck!
