I have a small round plastic container, around 6 inches wide and maybe 8 inches tall. I don't have a lid for this container anymore. So I filled it with water and put it in the fridge with celery stalks cut into about 6 inch pieces in it. I also put a jar of peanut butter on top of the fridge right in front of my face. I don't like to put peanut butter in the fridge because it becomes nearly impossible to spread.

I don't know how long celery will last sitting in an open container full of cold water like that, but it lasts the 2-3 days it takes me to eat all of the celery.

When I go looking in the fridge I see the peanut butter and then the celery, it only takes a couple of minutes to put some peanut butter on a few stalks on a plate. It probably takes less time than it does to cook a hot pocket or something along those lines.

So are you saying that unless you put the celery and peanut butter in a place to catch your eye, you won't think about eating it? That's a good way to eat your vegetables!

I find that sometimes when I buy a big bag of carrots I often forget about them because I put them in a place where I can't see them and I don't' even remember they are there. Also, the same thing happens when I put any fruits or vegetables in their designated bins at the bottom of the fridge... I'm always forgetting when there is stuff in there!

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I think the bottom of the fridge was designed for starting a vegetable garden, not keeping vegetables. It seems like I've always got carrots, potatoes, garlic, etc growing little sprouts down there.
