A yeast-free diet is just a matter of getting rid of the most yeast that you can, and balancing your lifestyle. The Yeast Diet has been used for years by naturalists as a way to detox the body of overstocks of yeast that can come from certain medications, processed foods or from exposure to others with yeast overgrowth.

When trying to treat yourself for yeast infection, you should follow the guidelines listing what to eat and what not to eat below. Listed are known foods which usually contain fungi in one form or another. When digested, foods containing fungi break down into simple sugars, which yeast, feeds on. Overall, if you follow this diet, it will starve the yeast to death.

The Candida Diet - What to do, what to eat, and what not to eat

  • Detox - First it is a good idea to cleanse your system of the toxic byproducts of Candida.
  • Use anti-microbial herbs and phytochemicals 15 days on and then 5 days off. A list of good herbs are listed in the next section below.
  • Inoculate yourself with probiotics. Pprobiotics refers to dietary supplements or foods that contain beneficial, or "good," bacteria that are similar to those normally found in your body.
  • Make sure you eat plenty of fresh vegetables, preferably raw. Vegetables absorb fungal poisons and carry them out of the body. Good vegetables to eat are alfalfa sprouts, asparagus, bell peppers, brussel sprouts, cabbages, broccoli, carrots (limited portion), celery, dandelion greens, eggplant, fennel, garlic, kelp, lettuces, onion, pumpkin, kale, spinach, squashes, tomatoes, turnip greens, watercress, aloe vera, rhubarb, and yucca.
  • Foods that are good to eat include protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish, liver, sausage, pork), live yogurt cultures, nuts, seeds, acidophilus, green algae's, and vegetables.
  • NO fruits or fruit juices because of the sugar they contain. Green apples, berries, avocados, lemons, grapefruit, and limes are okay.
  • NO margarine or butter substitutes.
  • NO potatoes or legumes for first two weeks.
  • NO coffee, tea, or sodas.
  • Drink lots bottled or filtered water. Distilled water is the best for removing toxins.
  • NO grains such as pasta, corn, rice, wheat, millet, oats, and barley.
  • NO yeast allowed! Absolutely no bread, mushrooms, pastries, and alcohol.
  • NO pickles, salad dressings, green olives or soy sauce. Salad dressings made of olive oil, Braggs apple cider vinegar, water, and lemon juice are okay. Black olives not aged in vinegar are okay.
  • Coconut oil, olive, grape seed, and flax seed oils in a cold pressed formula are okay. No partially hydrogenated oils including corn and peanuts.
  • NO peanuts or peanut products or pistachio nuts.
  • Raw nuts such as pecans, almonds, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds are okay.
  • NO vinegars including ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pickles, pickled peppers, hot sauce, salad dressings, green olives, horseradish, dips, and mayonnaise.
  • Good to avoid tuna, swordfish, shark, and shellfish.
  • Avoid aged cheeses, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, honeys, all sugars, syrups
