I believe children need to be introduced at a very young age to the idea of exercise. It doesn't have to be running on a treadmill or lifting weights at the gym. It shouldn't be something that might make them bored and turned off by the idea of exercise. It should be something fun; something active. I believe starting at around age 2 to 3 parents should experiment with different types of sports and activities that their child might be good at or enjoy. Put them in swimming lessons, enroll them in soccer or basketball. When children start these sports young, they will learn to love them and won't be able to wait until the next time it is time to go outside and play... instead of putting up a fight because they'd rather sit on their butts in front of the TV or play video games.

Here are some examples of fun aerobic exercises kids can get excited for:
  • basketball
  • bicycling
  • ice-skating
  • in-line skating
  • soccer
  • swimming
  • tennis
  • walking
  • hiking
  • volleyball
  • skiing

There were a couple other sports that my sister brother and I grew up on:
  • wrestling
  • dodgeball
  • gymnastics

Let's not forget active games that we can play for 30 minutes too!!!
  • red light, green light
  • simon says... do jumping jacks
  • tag - there are a variety of option... if you need variations just ask!
  • charades (I busted a sweat thring to get people to guess "Little Mermaid" in Disney charades!)

Remember the important thing is to have fun!
