I put this topic in here for a very important reason. Childhood weight issues are on the rise. I was a big kid, from a big family... I am breaking the cycle, getting healthier; but it's a struggle! If we can get to our kids early enough while they are young, maybe we can get them to be more successful and improve before they get caught in a cycle they can't get out of.
The upcoming generation's life expectancy is supposed to be less than ours. This is the first time in our nation's history that parents are projected to live longer than their children. We have to do something. I hope to offer useful information in this topic for parents struggling with issues about their children.
I have broken the cycle... so can your kid... maybe in playing with your kid you can break the cycle yourself!
I teach a Healthy Youth/Healthy families class at an intermediate school in my area, I was a camp counselor for many years at a YMCA Camp, I have coached a lot of youth teams... Bounce ideas off of me... I would love to hear ways of keeping your kids motivated to be healthy... We are fighting a losing battle right now... it's so tough with how easy fast food is and how much exposure kids have to the advertisement. It is also so easy to let the kids go play computer games instead of going and playing outside... especially in Tacoma where I am at... rainy and cold... I play too many video games too!
