Hi Everyone: Introduce Yourself

Just wanted to say hi, just joined today. I am fixing to be 54 and have found it gets harder and harder to stay in shape. I have always jogged, but 10 years ago I could jog 3 days a week and stay in good shape and eat whatever I wanted to. Now, I am jogging 3 days a week and going to a mild yoga class 3 days a week, and still have to watch what I eat. Just doesn't seem fair.

Welcome to the site! Where are you from? Do you feel like you are jogging at the same speed and the same distance that you did 10 years ago?

I am from South Texas, where it is hot and humid. I love it. We live by the water and so that is my background when I jog.

I don't even wear a watch anymore when I jog so I really don't know for sure, but I feel pretty sure I am not as fast. I am not putting in the miles consistantly because I use to run 5k and 10k's pretty regular. I think I am averaging about 3 miles when I jog.

Wow, South Texas, that's cool. Does it not get too hot to run outside in that area? Or does being by the water help? How come you stopped running the 5k's and 10k's?

It gets a little hot, but it definitely is cooler by the water. In regards to the 5k and 10ks, life just got in the way, teenagers, work,etc. We now live in an area where it's too far to travel to a run, but I at least am still getting out there.
