Our country is doing pretty well, especially Washington. We haven't had too many cases up here and I think have had only 1 death so far...

What precautions is India taking?

Hi nsb! My name is Ken. I am from Houston, Texas originally and have since moved to Washington. About your question towards the swine flu, Texas was getting pretty bad for a while but they have got it under control. Mexico is really bad and that is why Texas was getting many cases due to the close proximity to the border. The US is currently working on handing out vaccines to the population. College kids and health care workers are getting first priority. Elderly people are given last dibs over here. I hope that answers your questions.

Welcome to the site, glad you joined us.

Where would you say you are at on your journey towards health?

The elderly get last dibs in the US? That's odd, here they tend to be first, as they are amongst the most vulnerable.

Swine Flu is gathering steam over here - not unduly worried - I've had flu two or three times before, and from what I understand, the symptoms of this strain tend to be less. It's a virulent strain to be sure, but outside the young, elderly and sick etc., it's pretty harmless other than making you feel crappy for a while.

Well, elderly people aren't so much last dibs from what I heard in the U.S. I heard children under the age of 18 are first, people between the age of 18 and like 65 with health problems are next, and then the rest of the people aren't given a priority...

I think it is because it usually spreads through the schools and hospitals... that is why youth and health care workers get first crack... the elderly population is the demographic that the flu is slowest spreading over here.
