I think it was our parent's fault... I am not going to make my kids finish there plate if they don't want to. I will send the food to the starving kids in Etheopia.

Maybe your first step might be to define what a doable schedule might be for you.

What's kinda funny is that I was never made to finish my plate. My brother and I are probably the only ones on my fathers side of the family that weren't either. I had to eat a least a little bit of everything on my plate, but there was no pressure to finish everything.

I remember holidays when my cousins would all get together at my grandparents house, my aunts and uncles wouldn't let them have a drink untill they finished half their plate, then they couldn't leave the table untill they finished their plate.

I think there is a difference with parents who make their children eat their vegetables and parents who make their children eat everything on their plate. Sometimes parents will make their children finish their plate just because all they have left to eat are the vegetables and they have already eaten everything else. I think that is okay. That is teaching children the value in eating nutritious food. I don't agree, however, with parents who make their children finish their plate if they still have a mix of everything left and are full. That's teaching their children to eat even when they are full and thus creating bad eating habits!

Yeah but what I have noticed from babysitting my niece is that when she has a plate of food in front of her she will sometimes say she is not hungry when she really is, because 10 min later when she is in a different mood she wants "snacks" -- she is just holding out for the really yummy stuff. So sometimes you have to read through the kids to determine if they should be hungry or not. I can understand why some parents feel they need to finish the plate, especially if they are the type of kids who shortly after dinner say "Now I am hungry" -- after you had already tossed the dinner down the garbage disposal.

I was looking for a funny picture of a kid busted trying to feed the dog their vegetables and came across a book.

Yeah, those are good points! I think it ultimatley comes down to the personality of the child and their history when it comes to food eating!

I don't think it is just kids that are the ones with the problem of not wanting to eat the healthy food but wanting to consume what tastes good... I know of a lot of "adults" who won't eat stuff that is good for them, but will hit Jack in the Box on the way back from the grocery store!

I think the biggest reason our weight is out of control is the food we eat and the portion size. If we can get these things under control... all we would need to do is find something fun out there that makes us be active. Activity is easy... the food is what is most difficult for me!

I think my mom got confused as she is also a member on my brother's site, rockthe411. She saw that it says it is Tunaberry's birthday and thought that meant it was Joebert's birthday too!
