I am going to Houston in a few weeks and my little brother and I will have a little arm-wrestling competition while I'm there. I have not won since he hit puberty... I need a victory! Does anyone have any techniques on how to improve arm-wrestling skills???

Help me... my brother needs to lose!

Arm wrestling uses your forearm... lift weights that work that muscle! One exercise that I know that works the forearm well is a stick with a weight hanging from it on a string. Hold your arms straight out while hanging on to the stick. Then rotate the stick forward while rolling up the weight. Keeping your arms out straight will isolate your forearm muscles and give you a great forearm workout!

Most people arm wrestling foolishly use their biceps to crush the opponent. This is wrong, as it is a relatively small and weak muscle. Instead of using the arm, try using your back and shoulders to force your opponent down.

Wrapping your thumb is a very simple move which can grant you a lot of power over your contestant. Here’s how to do it:

1. Wrap your hand as if you were about to punch someone.
2. Instead of having your thumb on the outside, move it “under” your fingers, so you can only see the knuckles behind your fingers.
3. This is wrapping your thumb. Practice doing it with a friend to see what I mean.

thanks...

I refuse to arm wrestle people who play the technical game with arm wrestling, bending your wrist, wrapping your thumb, etc. I feel like it's cheating. I think people should save that stuff for Martial Arts, arm wrestling is supposed to be brute strength. :D

Top rolling and all the other wrist bending techniques (or cheating as you call it) are all legitimate techniques in arm wrestling. Just ask John Brzenk!

Legit, pffft. That's what happens when you let in the "riff raff" lol

I'm going to get a metal plate put in my wrist. Then again, I really shouldn't be arm wrestling anyways come to think of it. I busted whatever is behind my pinky finger a couple of years ago on my arm wrestling hand (injury unrelated to arm wrestling) it it never did heal right.

Keep your hands directly out while clinging on to the keep, Then move the keep ahead while moving up the weight, Keeping your hands out directly will separate your hand muscle tissue and give you a great hand exercise.....
