Post subject: Great way to start lifting, especially for Seniors

Start in your Kitchen. In the morning take cans from the top shelf of the pantry (that you can reach with your heels on the ground) and put them on the bottom shelf (that you can reach in a squatted position). Every night take the cans from the bottom shelf and put them on the top shelf again. This will start a workout routine that only takes a couple minutes and engages your arms and legs. For someone who has never lifted before or who has a little muscle atrophy, this is a great springboard into a weight training workout. After a few week substitute the cans for five pound weights... after a few more weeks add a couple curls before you set them down or put them up... after a few weeks do the same but then shadow a couple of our workouts with no weights to get used to the motions... after a few more weeks try a couple of our workouts with the five pound weights!
