Post subject: Thoughts for the day - inspirational quotes

Sometimes when life gets difficult, or your stuck in a rut, just hearing encouraging and motivational words can make a difference. I love to hear encouraging quotes, sayings, and/or words of motivation. If you have any quotes that you love or find inspiring, please share them with us in this thread.

Here is a quote that I like:

Quote:
"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
-Groucho Marx

Here is something my father told me:

My favorite quote for a while now has been:

You can be on the right track; but if you're not moving, you can still get run over!

"People might not get all they work for in this world, but they must certainly work for all they get."
- Frederick Douglass -

Frederick Douglass, Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, February 14, 1818 - February 20, 1895, was an American abolitionist, women's suffragist, editor, orator, author, statesman and reformer. Called "The Sage of Anacostia" and "The Lion of Anacostia", Douglass is one of the most prominent figures in African-American and United States history.

He was a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black, female, Native American, or recent immigrant. He was fond of saying, "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong."

"Old age ain't no place for sissies."
- Bette Davis -

Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis, April 5, 1908 – October 6, 1989, was an American actress of film, television and theatre. Noted for her willingness to play unsympathetic characters, she was highly regarded for her performances in a range of film genres; from contemporary crime melodramas to historical and period films and occasional comedies, though her greatest successes were her roles in romantic dramas.
