When I get home from work, all I want to do is eat, sit on the couch and watch tv. I have thought about exercising, especially during the middle of the day. By the time I get home, I am not in the mood to do anything. I really want to change, I just don't know how. I keep telling myself to go do something, but I am lazy. Has anyone out there conquered their laziness? If so, how?

I go to the Gym right after work, that way I do not have time to think about being lazy. Believe me I love being lazy as well. Most weekend I am totally lazy.Give it a try and see how you feel. Also getting people who can keep you accountable is a good idea as well

I also go to the gym right after work unless I have practice with my team (which keeps me accountable). The main obstacle to going right after work is hunger. I eat a snack at 11:30 and lunch at 1:30 so that I can wait to eat dinner until 7 after I go to the gym. Working out always makes me forget I'm hungry :)

I think going to workout right after work is a favorite for most to stay away from being lazy. I am a person who loves to workout, but if I go home right after work instead of to the gym, then I too feel lazy and don't feel like leaving the house again!

Try not giving yourself that chance to go home and be lazy. Go straight to the gym! :)

Something else to think about is getting a yoga ball or piece of exercise equipment that you can do while watching TV... you have to figure out ways to incorporate exercise into your life that will work for you. If you know that all you want to do is watch TV when you get home... either workout before you go home or have something at the house that you can do while watching TV.

You have to work with yourself; don't totally go against everything you've done in your life and expect to be successful. You need to slowly incorporate better choices into your life that won't seem too inconvenient or hard... build upon that success... and then try the next step!

Think about what a good first step would be...

I have to come home and get dinner for the family and help the wife take care of the kids after work before I can even think about the choice between the gym or couch. Working out directly after work isn't really an option for me. I do like the idea of having stuff to do while watching tv. Do you have any suggestions?

I went out and bought the big balls for the family. One for me, my wife and Mark. Jasmine too young to get one but she likes playing with mine! Sometimes I just sit on it and watch TV other times I actually do stuff on it. My wife bought a beginner Yoga video. I've tried to do it a couple times but it is tough. I'll keep trying to do it with her. She is excited about it.

I am still walking the dog, I have started taking the kids out with me. I got a little monkey backpack for Jasmine(the tail of the monkey makes a great leash too)! I have been extending the walks to about 20 minutes now.

Weight watchers with the wife is going okay. The food isn't tat great but it's tolerable.

My wife is getting a little frustrated because I have lost 19 lbs. to her 5 lbs. I keep telling her it is because I weigh a lot more than her and she is doing good. She is still not happy about that.

Ken, I talked to Reg. Did you here Marissa is pregnant? I am so excited for them. They had been trying for a while; it's good to see it finally work out for them!

Hey Junior,

I did hear that Reg and Marissa were pregnant and that they got a new home. I am pushing for the name Ken Hughes... sounds good, don't you think? He said he would name the kid that if the baby came out white! Come on albino!

Congrats on the weight loss... and make sure to keep your wife encouraged as well... it will definitely come for her as well. It is easier for men to lose weight than women. Stick with it and keep up the good work!

wow, congrats :) (yeah, i know it's been months, but hey! it's a great achievement, i just have to say it) i think it's great you've involved your family into this. when i first read your post, i thought of suggesting doing your workout in the morning. i sometimes go on the gym's morning shift and it's a good waker-upper for me
