I'm not pregnant and I didn't have insurance then and I still don't! If I did I'd go in and have my thyroid checked, but since I don't I'm seeing if I can figure anything out on my own before spending tons of money for the doctor to misdiagnose me like I have experience with them doing. I'm tired of paying doctors money for them not helping me one bit! :)

Or you could have stetched out your vein walls and caused it to weaken in certain areas... maybe during times of low heart pressure it kinks a little... Do you remember a specific tim when it started? If it is getting worse maybe the vein walls are deteriorating... you should get that checked out, reguardless of insurance status. You better hope Obama hurries up and passes the health insurance plan!

I don't know exactly when it started, but I do know that I felt it start to get worse just within the last couple of weeks.

Why are you waiting to get it checked out... do you think it will just go away or are you scared? In my experience, waiting only makes things like this worse.

I don't know. I think I am holding out because of 2 reasons. Number one I don't want to spend money to see a doctor for them to not help me. And number two because it's not really happening every night anymore. It's kind of a hit and a miss when I get the number fingers. So maybe this is just some kind of phase my body is going through???

Alarms went off in my head when you mentioned it progressing. I've been kind of afraid to say anything else ever since. :scared:

I do find this interesting though

Have you had increased stress within the last few weeks ?

If nothing else has changed other than you putting more thought into it, maybe it's something psychological.
Maybe you're subconsciously aware of something you do in your sleep to aggravate it and aren't doing it as often anymore. Have you thought about video taping yourself sleeping until it happens again ?

One thing is for certain, I woke up in the middle of the night having slept on both arms long enough that I couldn't feel or move either one for the first time in ages and I cursed you for jinxing me as the blood started flowing and I could feel pain again. lol

Oops! I didn't mean to jinx you!!!

I don't feel like I've had any more stress lately. So I don't know. When I first started to really notice it, it was happening everyday. But over the past week, it slowly has not been happening as much. And when it does happen, the fingers don't feel as numb as when it was happening before. I have no idea what is going on with me. But as long as it keeps decreasing, I'm not going to be worried about it. If it starts to get worse again. I might just go in and see if maybe there is something going on with my thyroid. One thing I have noticed, is that lately when my fingers haven't been going numb, my hands haven't been as cold. I really think the numbness goes along with when my hands are so cold that nothing warms them up. When the numbness was happening every night there for a while, one thing that I really did notice at the same time was how cold my hands were.

I wonder if a pair of lose fitting gloves at bedtime would keep your hands from being so cold. We all know about wearing socks to bed to keep us warmer during the winter months.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this would solve the problem you have, but it could warm up your hands.

What would the treatment for a thyroid problem be ?
I'm guessing there's medications, which are pretty much out of the question without a doctor visit, but perhaps there are changes in diet and other things the doctor would suggest to go along with the medications.

If it's not a major problem, or hasn't progressed to something you need medication for, perhaps assuming you have the thyroid problem and treating yourself using everything other than the medications would help and prevent it from becoming a full blown problem.

Treatment for a thyroid problem would be medicine prescribed by the doctor that helps the thyroid gland to produce enough of the important hormones we need. I've done research to see if there is some change in my diet that could help, but everything that I have read said that what you eat doesn't effect your thyroid.

I've thought about wearing gloves to bed, I'll have to try that the next time my hands are super cold.

I still think it's a blood circulation problem... maybe you collapsed a blood vessel and it is in the process of reparring itself. When you jam a finger and it gets all black and blue, you're finger tips are numb and cold... if it happened higher up in the hand or arm it could effect your whole hand. The fact that it is getting better means something is changing... maybe your body is healing itself!
