Foot feels a lot better this morning. I can walk normally for the most part, before I had to lift my foot up in an awkward way or else I felt pain as I lifted it. I still get a pain in it step on it at an awkward angle or twist it an odd way. When I put my foot up I also still have a strange pressure, or pulling feeling where my big toe connects to my foot and along the side of my big toe.

I went to the grocery store with my neighbor yesterday to pickup a few things. Some old guy had the last motorized scooter thing so I used a cart to keep as much weight off of my foot as I could. When I stepped on that side I leaned on the cart more to hold me up. My foot was kind of sore about half-way through the store, so I'm surprised it feels better this morning, I thought I'd set myself back while at the store yesterday.

I still have this ominous feeling that I fractured or tore something in the foot. It's been almost 3 weeks now. When I was a kid my doctor used to say that if anything lasts for more than a week you should see the doctor.

Three weeks is a long time!!! But at the same time, if it is a fracture there is not much the doctor can do for a fracture on the foot I think. At least that was the case when I broke my big toe. I was going through much what you went through, but I know what my injury was from. I was playing basketball in running shoes, and my shoe fell off at one point in which I felt my big toe stab into the ground. My toe hurt like crazy for 2-3 weeks before I finally went to the doctor only to get an ex-ray and find out what I already knew... I had broken my big toe. I then found out that I paid over $400 to get an extra for them to tell me that you are just going to have to take it easy for a while because the toe has to heal on its own... there is nothing we can do!!! So, to me, I feel like I wasted $400 bucks! :x

I broke a toe at my very first Judo lesson- I either cracked it hard onto the mat, or it got stuck between the mats. I didn't really pay much attention to it at the time, but the next day it hurt like a demon, and had gone black and blue all over.

The doctor sent me to to Accident and Emergency at the local hospital, but they told me there was nothing they could do. I taped it to its neighbour, and within a few weeks I was back on the mat (though the toes remained taped for some time afterwards...)

That's why I haven't gone to the doctor to get an X-Ray. I split the growth plate in my shoulder when I was a kid and a few thousand dollars worth of X-Rays later I was sent home in a sling with a strap that kept my arm held to my midsection. My father had insurance through Publix where he worked back then luckily.

I did the same thing with my pinky finger when I cracked the side of my hand behind the pinky finger. I really never got a chance to take it easy after that though, I was painting houses a couple of days later and kept bumping my hand on things and cringing in pain.

I've been watching the ocean tide reports, the weather, etc and sitting here like a dog with a Milkbone sitting on his nose for a few weeks now wanting to go fishing. My foot feels good again today so I'm going to try fishing for a few hours. It's 5:30AM and high tide is at 10AM. By the time I get out there I should have a few hours of fishing time before

1) Slack tide (when the water quits moving and fish quit biting)
2) The sun gets nasty hot
3) My foot gets sore

:D

That's what I did... I cracked mine on the gym floor after my shoe fell off playing basketball and although it hurt at the time, I just put my shoe back on and kept playing. Later that night and the next day is when the pain really started and wouldn't give up. It took my toe more than a few weeks to get better though, it was more like 3-4 months. My toe is all better now (2-3 years later) but whenever there is a drastic change in the weather (like going from really hot to really cold temps) my toe gets really sore for a brief period.
