Acidophilus

Acidophilus is a type of probiotic which are live microbial organisms that are naturally present in the digestive tract. They are considered beneficial and are sometimes referred to as "friendly" bacteria. One of its purposes is to break down food so the body can absorb the nutrients.

There are many benefits of acidophilus supplements including:

Studies have shown that probiotic bacteria may shorten the course of infectious diarrhea by 60%.

Probiotics may help people with irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

Probiotics cause no serious side effects, but some people may notice increased flatulence. Check with your doctor before trying them, especially if you're pregnant or nursing or have a weakened immune system.

Found in live-culture yogurt. Eat a few servings a week.

Supplements are another option, though they vary in quality and potency.

They mentioned Acidophilus Milk on an episode of Two 1/2 Men and I wondered what that was. A buddy of mine used to get Soy Milk which I think tastes like watered down cows Milk. I see now that Acidophilus Milk is like liquid yogurt!

I have never heard of Acidophilus Milk so I looked it up.

Quote:
Acidophilus milk is milk which has been fermented with Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria, creating a very distinctive tangy flavor and slightly thickened texture. In addition to tasting a bit different from regular milk, acidophilus milk is also believed to be beneficiary, because the bacteria can help restore the healthy balance of bacteria in the gut, promoting smooth digestion.

Acidophilus milk sounds gross!! Yuck. I will stick with yogurt, at least there are yummy flavors to chose from. No gagging to try and get it down.
