Alright...I like the 12-week layout. I'm probably going to go "over", but I want to at LEAST do the minimum you have on the schedule.

Wednesday: 60 min walk with dog; 25 crunches, 10 "girlie" pushups (on knees)

Thursday: 45 minute "Muscle Tone" workout with Lisa (included 100+ crunches and upper body arm work); back-to-back with 45 min Spin class. I think I wrote a new chapter in doing too much-too soon. Good GRAVY - Lisa's a maniac - and I'm too stubborn to stop when I should. Super friendly folks in the class helped me get set up (step, body bar, hand weights). 20 minutes in - and probably 300 squats later, my legs were shaking and could barely support my weight. Thought Spin right after would help loosen them up... Well...it's Saturday, and I can still barely walk. This is NO EXAGGERATION.

Friday: Okay...could hardly get out of bed. Tried to swim, but my legs were so extremely tender and not responding to what I wanted them to do. I hurt so badly!!!! Settled for a 10 minute soak in the hottub to stretch. Had a massage, and my therapist could barely put pressure on my quads/IT band - I jumped about 2 inches off the table when she tried. BLAH!!!

Saturday: 25 crunches; 10 "girlie" pushups. I still can barely walk normally. Going up and down steps is very painful. Even just trying to bend over to pick something up off the floor is a chore - I have to hold onto something and slowly work my way down. I "shuffled" at the Steilacoom dog park for about 45 minutes - my boyfriend laughing and saying from behind I looked like a 9-month pregnant woman trying to walk! He also offered to tie my shoes for me... How embarrassing!!!

Sunday: 40 minute walk (kind of a walk...my legs are finally starting to come back to life!!). I'm pretty sure I've badly strained a right quad muscle; IT band is still very tender as well.

Monday: 30 minute swim

Tuesday: 50 minute spin class with Beth

YAY - Week 1 DONE!!!

perfect!

and feel free to change up the machines as you see fit... classes can also substitute for a machine!

Drums Alive training is Feb. 7th as for the class time, Denise has yet to put the schedule together but I be we start it before March... probably on Wednesdays but don't hold me to that... purely conjecture!!!

Great!!! Thanks for the info, Ken.

I'll keep my eyes open at the Y...or if you get details (days/times/etc), please forward them on if it's not too much trouble.

Week 2 - January 28-Feb 3

Wednesday - 55 minute swim

Thursday - 30 minute walk (2); going to give Lisa's "muscle tone" class another go!!! Couldn't walk for three days last time...going for just a bit of soreness this time. **SUCCESS** Stuck with Lisa for most of the 45 minutes...breaking when necessary. I believe this sess completed my crunch and "push up" req's...did many "chest presses"

Friday - 45 minute swim; 30 minute walk

Saturday - 90 minute trail walk with Kona @ Point Defiance

Sunday - 60 minute really easy stroll with Kona - AKA "rest"

Monday - 50 minute swim; 30 minute walk

Tuesday - 45 minute Muscle Tone class; 45 minute Spin class. YES!!! I doubled up again...but felt really, really good. Lisa's class focused a lot on chest and shoulders - a good amount of squats/lunges - and some fun "kick-boxing" moves. I took Spin relatively easy - my HR was still working in the high range, but I got a great deal of extra cardio. Weighed in at work (we're doing a mini-"biggest losers" thing here in the office) and had lost 3 pounds since last week!!!! WOO HOOO!!!!!!

She definitely has a doosy of a class! Don't feel like you have to do everything in the class all at once. Work your way into it. Don't go from 0 to 100... try doing 60 first... see how your body responds then push more... she'll be there next week too! One of the biggest ways to lose momentum is injury and pain... you know this. Don't try and wear yourself ragged before your body is ready to take the workload!

Great job on getting in there... I want you to be able to walk the next day though... maybe even bike or swim!

Kendra, Lisa's definitely a maniac (mostly in a good way) :D , but if you stick with her, you'll see results. She's a great personal trainer, too! (I miss my sessions with her)

Thanks Ducky and Ken!

I didn't know that she did personal training as well...I bet she worked you like mad!!!

I went back for **DING DING** "round two" yesterday, and paced myself much better. I was still burning...but stopped when I needed to...shook things out...and then started again. I also didn't try to go to Spin right afterwards (DUH!!!!!).

I did know better...just have a tendency to puch a little bit too hard too soon.....

Thanks for your support - you guys are ROCK STARS!!! ;)

No... You're the Rock Star... I just want to be the funny guy in your entourage!!!

How are you feeling today? Do you feel like you could push a little harder or was that still a bit much... or are you like the baby bear and it was just right???

Heya, Ken! The great thing about this site is that EVERYONE feels like they've got an entourage!

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm gonna go with "baby bear" - I adjusted Lisa's class to make it JUST RIGHT for me. I dropped the body bar and went with hand-held weights when I really started to burn; took a breather for 3-4 lunges/squats/crunches and then started up again. It's amazing what a 10-15 second break can do to help out. That's all it takes and I'm back in the game.

This past Tuesday (Feb 3) I doubled up her class with Spin (keeping it strenuous, but not PUSHING it), and was a LITTLE bit sore the next day, but could walk EASILY. It was that "gooooooooooooood" kind of sore that I like to have after I know I've worked hard, but smart. :)
