By the time that we realized that we didn't have the tire pump, the bicycling urge had apparently passed. Maybe we can squeeze something in this weekend, but we've decided that maybe we'll buy a house in the next couple of months, so we're supposed to meet with the realtor tomorrow to look at houses. (We kept going back and forth on this, but I think we've decided yes, if we can find a house we like...)

My husband is the plant supervisor at a concrete plant...so he's constantly lifting things and climbing the silo and such...so when he gets home, he wants to eat dinner and collapse!! Plus, he works about 60-75 hours a week, so he's always tired after work.

Hopefully things will calm down soon. They tell me that I'll be training on the Financial Aid job for probably about a month or so, though, so I need to get in a groove. But if my schedule changes (it's going to soon, but hasn't yet), I'll gain that extra time in the morning that I'm planning to use for exercising... :clown:

Oh, and my foot's a lot better. I put some ball of the foot supports in my work shoes, and those help some. It still has moments where it hurts, but I can walk on it without too much difficulty at those times, whereas before, I could hardly walk at all. I think I'm over the hump with that one!

Congratulations on looking to buy a house! I bought a town house a little over two years ago and I remember it being a really exciting time! It is a good time to buy right now too... you should get a good deal somewhere!

Wow, 60-75 hours a week is crazy! 40 hours a week is a lot for me!

I'm glad you foot is doing better. Foot supports do help a lot!

Hey Rebecca,

It is great to hear from you. I totally agree that something is better than nothing to stem the tide of change in your work place. Change is never easy and people who have just started exercise usually have a hard time being consistent through the turbulent time. Now, more than any other time will make or break your routine. Everyone can exercise during the easy stress-free times... it is the times of stress and uncertainty, that if you can stick with it, you will make exercise a part of your life forever! Even if you only get out and do a 5 minute walk, you are still putting forth the effort to value yourself enough to find time for that, ever so brief moment that allows yourself the satisfaction of success. Life happens, but it doesn't control us. I struggle with this myself but the key is to not totally give in to your schedule... find five minutes in your day... it will go a long way... pretty soon it will turn into 10, then 15 and then you're normal.

*sigh* Here goes...again. I've been a bad girl.

Week 4, complete in date only, but not so great on exercise

Day 1 3/30/09
(at home) 30 wall pushups, 30 sec wall sit, 15 modified pushups, 75 crunches (3 sets of 25, one of which had legs lifted), 30 side crunches
(later at home) one hour and fifteen minutes of various Wii playing with my husband

Day 2 3/31/09
(at home) 30 side crunches, 75 crunches (3 sets of 25), 15 modified pushups, 30 wall pushups

Day 3 4/1/09
(at home) 75 crunches (3 sets of 25), 50 leg crunches (What would you call these? Laying on the floor like you're going to do crunches, but instead of lifting up the shoulders, you lift the legs and alternate straightening them, like a funny looking bicycle exercise, 25 for each leg), 15 modified pushups, 30 wall pushups

Day 4 4/2/09
Nothing. I was bad. We spent our evening driving by potential houses that we want to try and view with our realtor this weekend.

Day 5 4/3/09
Work weigh-in weight: 197.4
I gained 0.6 lbs. *sigh* I must admit that I didn't try too hard, though.

(at home) 60 crunches (2 sets of 30), 50 leg crunches, 30 wall pushups

Day 6 4/4/09
Day 7 4/5/09

Probably won't do too much this weekend. Maybe some Wii. But we're planning to go out with the realtor at some point, so that'll tie up some time.

So this has been another unsuccessful week for me. I gained a half pound...again...*sigh*. But overall, in 9 weeks, I've lost 4.6 lbs, 2.28% of my body weight...so at least that's something. It's much slower than I want/need to go, but I just haven't been motivated. My husband and I both have been so tired lately, and I feel like I've been extra hungry. I've been eating everything in my lunchbox this week, but I don't really understand why I'm so hungry. And next week is going to be no better, as I'll be in training all week, and won't have any sort of regular schedule. I'm just bummed about it all.

I think you were right with calling them "a funny looking bicycle exercise" because I think you were actually doing bicycle sit ups!

Please don't get too discouraged with yourself. As a beginner, it is easy to be unmotivated, especially during times when you are super busy. As Y's Guy and Tammy have said in previous posts, something is better than nothing! So as long as you keep doing something, it will be easier to get right back into once your training is over and you have more time. What do you think? Do you think that it is your job trainings holding you back since it is making you so busy?

Is there anyone that you know of around there that already has an established routine? It sounds like you have all of the desire to change, but you just don't know how to get consistant. I didn't get consistant until I met Tammy. Just watching her routine and being around her showed me how to develop my own rountine. From there I had all I needed but I couldn't figure out how to get consistant on my own. Try to link up with someone and just watch them... then try to imitate... then create your own from what you learned. Routine can be learned but it's the hardest part to learn.

Here goes...the update...

Week 5, complete--at least according to the calendar...

Day 1 4/6/09
(at home) 60 crunches (2 sets of 30), 30 side crunches, 50 bicycle sit ups, 30 wall pushups

Day 2 4/7/09
Day 3 4/8/09
Day 4 4/9/09

Nothing. I stunk those days.

Day 5 4/10/09
No work weigh-in today for me. I was off. But the Wii Fit said I weighed 194.9, which, if true, means I lost 2.5 pounds last week, a loss of 1.27%! Different scales, true, but still a positive thing! And it could be true, as the people I was training with at the other campus don't seem to know the meaning of the word "lunch" very well...
(at home) 30 minutes on the Wii Fit...sweating intensely

Day 6 4/11/09
(at home) 30 minutes on the Wii Fit...more sweating...and soreness. Lots of soreness.

Day 7 4/12/09
Nothing. Happy Easter to me.

So for week 5, I didn't do so hot. However, I did get some in, if only a little, and three of the days, I had to go to training an hour from here, so I spent twice as long driving to and from work as normal. (Normal is about 30 minutes each way, these days were an hour or more each way.) The good news is, though, that the training is over now, and I'm starting on my new schedule!! I've picked up 30 minutes extra in the morning three days a week, and more than that the other two! So I should be able to get in more working out in the morning.

To answer some of the questions before, yes I think work training is holding me back from working out, at least some. When I'm training, I'm hard pressed to get in a full lunch hour (which is when I usually try to go walking), because I have to make the most of the training time that I have. And no, I don't really know anyone down here with an established routine as of yet. But I definitely feel more optimistic now! Hold your breath for the next update.

Sounds like you are getting in some good workouts with the Wii Fit! That's great! It is also great to hear that you are feeling more optimistic. With your training overwith and the new schedule, I think the extra time in the mornings is really going to help you!

Keep it up! :D

Keep it up Rebecca! I don't know much about Wii Fit, so I went to their website to check it out. It looks cool! I see that there are 4 training modes to choose from: yoga, balancing, strength training, and aerobics. Which one are you finding yourself doing most? Do you have a favorite?
